Farnham's Christmas show is The Tailor of Gloucester at the Maltings, 11 to 24 December, from £15.50. No panto in town; Godalming and Guildford have one each.

Farnham does not have a pantomime this Christmas. The town’s family Christmas show is The Tailor of Gloucester, Farnham Maltings’ own musical version of the Beatrix Potter story, running Friday 11 to Thursday 24 December 2026 in the Great Hall. Tickets start at £15.50 for a child and £19 for an adult, and every performance is on sale now.

If it has to be a traditional panto, the nearest two are Beauty and the Beast in Godalming (12 to 27 December) and Sleeping Beauty at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford (5 December to 10 January). Both are below.

The Tailor of Gloucester at Farnham Maltings

This is the Maltings’ own Christmas production, not a touring panto. The Maltings describes it as a “bold adaptation” of the Beatrix Potter tale, adapted by Alex Kanefsky with an original score and lyrics by Darren Clark, the double Olivier Award winner. It is set on Christmas Eve, “the one night of the year when animals can speak”, and follows a struggling tailor and a family of ambitious mice, with live rock and pop music, puppetry and jokes. It runs 90 minutes including an interval and is pitched at ages 3 and over (Farnham Maltings).

Prices

The Maltings splits the run into two price bands. Its prices include the booking fee, with no extra transaction charge.

There are no public shows from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 December, though those dates sit inside the cheaper band. The cheapest family outing is therefore the first weekend, 12 and 13 December, or the Monday 14 December evening show. On the pyjama nights children (and adults, the Maltings says) come in their pyjamas or onesies for a pre-bedtime show, with hot chocolate at the foyer bar.

Getting there

The Maltings is on Bridge Square, GU9 7QR, beside the River Wey and a short walk from the station. It has its own car park, and our Farnham parking page lists every Waverley car park and tariff. The town centre works are still going on, so check the Farnham roadworks and travel page before a December matinee.
