Surrey's schools break 19 to 30 October this year, but Weydon, Heath End, All Hallows and Rodborough take only 26 to 30 October. Every date, school by school.

The one date Farnham families need to check this year is October half term. Surrey County Council has given its own schools a two-week half term, Monday 19 to Friday 30 October 2026, but Farnham’s biggest secondary schools are academies and have kept one week, 26 to 30 October. A family with a child at a council-run primary and another at Weydon or Farnham Heath End will have different weeks off.

The quick answer

  • Surrey council-run schools: October half term is 19 to 30 October 2026, two weeks, paid for by finishing earlier in July.
  • Weydon, Farnham Heath End, All Hallows and Rodborough: 26 to 30 October only. Broadwater in Godalming and South Farnham take the full two weeks.
  • Christmas: most schools finish on Friday 18 December and go back on Monday 4 January 2027.

Surrey County Council dates for 2026/27

These apply to community and voluntary controlled schools, the ones the council runs. Academies, voluntary aided and foundation schools set their own dates, and each school picks its own five INSET days (Surrey County Council: school term dates 2026 to 2027, reviewed 4 June 2026).

The extra week in October comes out of the summer holiday: the council took five days from July 2027 so the year still has 195 days.

It is a one-year change. In June 2026 the council decided that its schools return to a one-week October half term in 2027/28, after headteachers from 50 of the 76 schools affected said they preferred the shorter break (Surrey Education Services, 4 June 2026).

The four one-week schools have also swapped the second week for other days off: Weydon, Farnham Heath End and Rodborough all close to pupils on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November, which Weydon and Heath End call wellbeing days. All Hallows lists 2 October and 27 November as INSET days.

  • Weydon: 1 and 2 September, plus the 26 and 27 November wellbeing days. The school says further INSET days are to be confirmed.
  • Farnham Heath End: 1 and 2 September, 19 March and 25 June, plus 26 and 27 November.
  • All Hallows: 1 and 2 September, 2 October, 27 November, 4 January, 26 March and 25 June.
  • Rodborough: 1 and 2 September, 4 January, 19 March and 2 July, plus 26 and 27 November.
  • Broadwater: 1 and 2 September and 4 January.
  • South Farnham: 2 and 3 September, and 26 to 28 July 2027.

Primary schools in Farnham are a mix of council-run schools and academies, so check your own school’s letter or website. If it is council-run, it follows the Surrey table above.

Christmas and Easter

  • Christmas: almost every school above finishes on Friday 18 December and returns on Monday 4 January 2027. Frensham Heights breaks up earlier, on Thursday 10 December.
  • Easter: the Surrey spring term ends on Thursday 25 March 2027, the day before Good Friday, and the summer term starts on Monday 12 April.
