Cranleigh Lions' bonfire and fireworks are on Saturday 7 November on the Common, free with a bucket donation. Roads close 6pm to 9pm; timings still to come.
Yes, it is on. The Cranleigh Lions Club’s Bonfire and Fireworks is on Saturday 7 November 2026, with a torchlit procession down the High Street to the bonfire and the display on Cranleigh Common. Entry is free; the Lions ask for a donation in their buckets instead of selling tickets.
The date comes from two first-party sources. The Lions’ own diary of events lists “Saturday 7th November 2026, Bonfire and Fireworks: torchlit procession, bonfire and firework display”. Waverley Borough Council has also signed the road closure order for that evening (more below). Both were checked on 7 October 2026.
The quick answer
- When: Saturday 7 November 2026, in the evening. The 2026 timetable is not out yet.
- Where: the procession goes along the High Street to Cranleigh Common.
- Cost: free. Last year the Lions suggested at least £10 in the collecting buckets.
- Roads: closed from 6pm to 9pm in central Cranleigh, under Waverley’s order.
- Tickets: none needed for the display. Torches for the procession are sold on the day.
What is confirmed for 2026, and what is not
The Lions’ detailed bonfire page has not yet been rolled over. It still shows the timetable for Saturday 1 November 2025, and the Lions say a free printed programme is delivered around Cranleigh before the night, so the 2026 times should follow in late October. Until then, the 2025 running order is the best guide to how the evening works. It is last year’s timetable, not a promise for this year:
| 2025 time | What happened |
|---|---|
| All day | Torches (£5) and Grand Draw tickets (£1) on sale outside the Co-op and on Stocklund Square |
| From 1pm | Bensons funfair on the Common |
| 3pm | Guy competition judged in Stocklund Square; entries in by 2.45pm |
| 5.45pm | Procession assembles near the Band Room in Village Way |
| 6pm | Roads close; the procession leaves Village Way along the High Street towards the Common |
| 6.10pm | Crowds in Stocklund Square join the procession, with the Slinfold Band playing |
| About 6.30pm | The guys go round the bonfire, the bonfire prayer is read and the fire is lit |
| About 7pm | Firework display by Star Fireworks, set to music |

In 2025 the Make-a-Guy competition, sponsored by the estate agent Curchods inc Burns & Webber, paid £25, £15 and £10 to the top three guys, and every guy went on the bonfire with the winners at the front. Whether the same prizes and sponsor return this year has not been announced.
Road closures on 7 November
Waverley’s Director of Regulatory Services approved the temporary closure on 1 October, and it was published on 6 October (Waverley decision 6534). It closes parts of these roads to all traffic from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday 7 November “to accommodate Cranleigh Lions Bonfire and Fireworks”:
- Elmbridge Road
- High Street
- Guildford Road
- Horseshoe Lane
- Rowland Road
- Knowle Lane
Pedestrian, emergency and permitted vehicle access is kept. That is an hour shorter than last year, when the Lions’ own notice gave 6pm to 10pm. The Lions’ 2025 road closure page described the closed sections in more detail: the High Street and Guildford Road between the mini roundabout by Stocklund Square and the Elmbridge Road roundabout, Guildford Road between Notcutts Garden Centre and that roundabout, Elmbridge Road at the Downs Link bridge lights, and Horseshoe Lane up to the cricket pitch (Cranleigh Lions, road closures). Expect the 2026 detail to look similar once the Lions publish it. Drivers passing through Cranleigh that evening should also expect hold-ups between Village Way and Stocklund Square while the procession moves off.
Parking
Last year the Lions pointed people to the public car parks at Village Way and Stocklund Square, with parking free after 6.30pm, plus overflow parking at Notcutts Garden Centre and the Manfield Park industrial estate for a suggested £5 donation. Once those filled, Guildford Road beyond Smithwood Common Road was residents-only. The Stocklund Square shop parking is on private land, so check the signs for charges. Whether the same overflow sites are used in 2026 will be on the Lions’ road closure page when it is updated.
Cranleigh has no railway station, so most people drive or take the bus. Check our roadworks and travel page before setting out: Horsham Road and Guildford Road in Cranleigh both have works running into late October. Our parking page covers Waverley’s car park charges.
Where the money goes
The Lions run the night as a fundraiser. They describe it as a free show and ask everyone to “give generously to our collectors”; the profits go to charities, families and individuals in Cranleigh and the surrounding area. The Cranleigh Lions are a registered charity, number 1183809.
